I'm trying to find the name of the tree that blooms in springtime in the Northeast. I most recently saw it at Arlington National Cemetery last week. It has clusters of small, white flowers that have a sweet grape smell. Any information would be much appreciated!
I took a picture of the tree, if that helps: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4504/...
What tree has flowers that smell like grapes?
It appears to be a black locust (Robinia psuedocacia). There is also a cultivar of this tree called 'Purple Robe' which has purple flowers. Both smell really good.
Reply:Thanks for answering, both of you! I will have to ask about those next time I'm at the greenhouse. Report It
Reply:looks like a honey locust or a black locust to me.
