Can anyone explain to me how I can make a color photo to black and white but save some color.?

For so many years I have seen a picture of children holding flowers. Everything is black and white except for the flower. I have four year old twins and would love to be able to create some great photos for my new house like that. Thank you so much!

Can anyone explain to me how I can make a color photo to black and white but save some color.?
The best way is to get some computer software, I would recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements (5.0 is the current version).

Then you take your pictures in color, and download them to your computer and into Elements (APE).

Once in the program, there are just a couple of steps.

1. create a duplicate background layer.

2. turn the copy layer to black and white

3. choose the eraser tool, and erase what you want to be in color.

That's it!

If you don't have the option to get the software or already have black and white photos, you can go to a photo lab or photography store and they sell markers that are made for coloring on black and white photos.

This will obviously make the items the marker color (they have bold and pastels)and not the original color.
Reply:What you want to do is called selective coloring. I do this using a program called Roxio photosuite. I have been using this program for a few months now and have had it down (how to do it) since the 3rd time I did it. It is very easy to use but it does cost 29.99 to get version 8. version 9 is out but thats about $100.00 if not more.

Reply:Use Photoshop software.

Firstly you convert you color image to greyscale and "save as" under a new file name.

re-open that color image again and copy the grey scale image over the colr one. Using the erazer tool, erazer any portoin on the greyscale image you will get the color portion....

There are other better step to go about in Photoshop. Read the Tutorials and have fun with editing your pics
Reply:Download the free Kodak software.

Your procedure will depend if you are starting with a color or BW image.

If color, make a copy of the original layer on top… desaturate (do not make grayscale) the layer and use the “eraser” to erase the BW where it is you want color. Tedious but easy!

If BW, make a blank layer on top… use “brush” to paint (opaqe) your color on the blank layer over where you want it in the image… then use “multiply” as your blend mode and you will have the color in the BW.

Reply:You need to shoot your image in Raw-only pro and semi pro cameras from Canon Rebel up do this- You open the raw image in photoshop CS2-if you have CSyou need a plug-and play with the density level. You will be amazed
