How to do a 50's pinup look with a white simple prom dress?

I am getting a simple but beautiful strapless gown that is white. Somebody told me since the gown is simple, make sure i have gorgoues hair and makeup. So for the makeup i was thinking of doing 50's pinup with a red flower in my hair.

Any other ideas
