Not knowing the size of the flower, my best guest is - it's an oriental lily, sometimes called the stargazer lily. It has a strong fragrance when it is open.

Reply:you should post a pic ... but whatever it is, it is NOT a lily ... lilies have six petals (see pic). Petunia is a better suggestion.

Reply:Could be ANY kind. Petunia, Tulip, Lilies etc.
Check out a garden center or seed company.
Reply:Could also be a wood geranium, Pelargonium sp. also called cranesbills. A picture would really help.
Or, it could be a tree mallow, Malva sylvestris specifically "Zebrina".
How tall is the plant? What do the leaves look like? What conditions is it growing under?
