What is your opinion and why on which color scheme for flowers should we use for a black and white wedding?

We are using roses and the bridesmaids dresses are black with a white sash. Should we use red roses for their bouquets or white? And for me the bride what color of roses should I have?

Those are my colors as well and I am carrying all red roses. Mostly because I think white roses against the white or ivory dress get lost, but also because it always looks off to me. Since my girls are in black dresses they are carrying the white roses and white stephanotis with crystals in the middle of them. I just don't like the white bouquets against the white dresses, and I want to say because they don't match but it's more than that. I just can't explain it better. The red against your beautiful dress will pop and it is so classic. I have just seen too many white bouquets that look funny against the white dress, but that's just my opinion. Red roses, cliche or not, will be timeless, so don't let anyone tell you differently.

SO in my opinion white for the girls and red for you. It will be beautiful.

Reply:I just attended a wedding that used the colors black, white, and red. It was lovely.



All the flowers were red roses . . . with the exception of the flowers used on the arch. The arch (where the couple was wed) was decorated with tulle, white flowers, and greenery.



The men wore red rose bouts. The girls carried red roses. It looked awesome against their black dresses. The bride also carried a hand-tied bouquet of red roses . . . but her bouquet was larger.



I vote for red. It will be lovely.
Reply:I think it would be nice to have the bridal party carry all red roses. Then you can carry red roses, but with hints of stephanosis in it - like this one.

Then you could have your bouquet wrapped in red ribbon and the bridesmaids can have theirs wrapped in white ribbon - or vice versa.

Reply:add some color ...I'm guess their gowns are solid black and the sash is solid white... give them red and white flowers.. your bouquet should be...red,pink,white ( mostly red and white)...red..is bold..and the pink add's softness drawing away from all the black. so defiantly give them colored flowers but of course not as elaborate as the bride!!! good look on your wedding! :)
Reply:Instead of red, how about bright pink? It's in the same color family, so it would look just as good as red (and in my opinion, better!) You can always do roses, or if you want to be less traditional, I think tulips would look great.

Can anyone give me a good comprehensive website so as I can Identify a species of tree?

I have a tree with simple rounded leaves which are downy on the upper side. It bears no friut or berries but does have white flowers about 1 in in diameter. The flowers consists of 5 petals and are highly fragrant and together form a star shape. They have long white stamens with red tips. The flower buds are a semi-open fat umbrella shape and dark pink in colour with the white flower wrapped up inside and resembling a pearl. The flower/bud clusters resemble a chandalier in appearance. Blooming August - September. The tree itself is about 12-15ft high and about 8ft wide at its widest point. The growing habit ( shape ) of the tree is similar to that of the Lilac. I have inherited this tree with my new house in the UK but the tree not nessasarily be native to the UK. Any help

I don't know the artists name. The background is a swirl with several patterns (including a star pattern). The man has a goatee, is skiny, has a walking stick, black top hat, and black gloves in one hand, and a white flower in the other hand like he's giving it to someone.

Everbearing strawberry plants?

I planted some everbearing strawberry plants in hanging pot. The leaves are really large, and green. I noticed a few white flowers on my plants this morning. Are they supposed to look loke that? This is my first time planting strawberries so I don't know much about them. Also, how many strawberries will the average plant produce?

Yes strawberry plants produce white flowers...



The quantity of strawberries will depend on soil condition, food the plants are given, watering, etc....but i would guess each plant probably could produce at least a couple dozen per growing season....mine have so far...
Reply:Well the plants are supposed to have flower, that's how the fruits develop. I just planted some this year and I had flowers, but now I don't.....

We have trees at work with white flowers on them, pretty tall, they smell just like rotting fish. It's gross. I'm trying to figure out what they are called so I never buy one by mistake! Thanks

I have a favourite dress which I have had for years and it should really go to that great charity shop in the sky, but I have so many happy memories of times when I have worn it that I am reluctant to part with it. (It is cotton, knee length, floaty, and is black with white flowers on it and is so comfy to wear).

Reply:I had a medium-long jacket for years. It was tan and brown. I called it the "all-around jacket" because it could be worn in spring or fall or on cool summer nights and warm winter days.

It had a collar, pockets and looked very good on me I felt. I had it for years; nothing else I've ever owned has ever been that comfortable nor useful.

Reply:Wow, it's sad that I don't yet have something that I've had forever, but no matter what I am always wearing a tank top under all my clothes. I have them in every color! There is one thing I keep though- my charm bracelet, but I don't usually wear it because it makes so much noise!
Reply:My cropped jackets. I have a lot of different styles and textures. You can dress them up with a cute halter, heels, and slacks. Or dress them down with jeans and a t-shirt. I love that they can let you wear your favorite strappy shirt in fall! Love them!

Reply:At the moment my pair of Diesel jeans are my faves. Why? Well, my boyfriend knows someone who works for Diesel and can get big discounts so he took me shopping. I was so excited. Then I found the jeans didn't go up to my size. I was very close crying in the shop. Afterwards I did cry and my boyfriend was wonderful and said I was beautiful and that they're stupid for not making my size. Which helped a lot but still, the experience didn't do much for my self esteem.



Cut to present, about a year later. It wasn't only because of the above but it probably was the final straw. I've lost nearly 10kg and about a dress size a half. I own a beautiful pair of Diesel jeans and they are fitting perfectly. Of course they are my favourites!



P.s. I do still think they should go up to larger sizes. Curvy girls can look great in well-designed denim.

Reply:I have an original Mary Quant 1960's mini dress. It is covered in silver sequins and weighs a ton. It is special because it belonged to my Mum. I also have the silver wedge shoes that she wore with it. I don't usually wear it but as they are all the rage again I wore it recently and everybody wanted to know where I got it. I don't think I will wear it again, it drew too much attention!!

1 - Black lined linen blazer - wonderful for work. Love it!

2 - Black viscose hooded top with kangaroo pockets (no zip) - bought this in 1999 and still works with everything. Also needs to be thrown out at some point... :-(

Reply:A t-shirt I bought on vacation in Maryland. It says Maryland across the front with a cute little crab. It's a simple block lettering logo, and it really does wonders for my chest. It's simple, comfy, soft and dark colored (my favorite!). I also have a t-shirt from when I was on my high school tennis team. It brings back all the memories of my meets and the team. Good times!
Reply:i love, love, love my rare @ top shop little black dress, it is sooo sexy yet sophisticated and stylish. it is knee length, made of silk with black velvet straps and a chain across the chest with black beads. i wear with my black velvet heels with black beads on and a black faux fur short sleeved shrug for when it gets chilly.

How to make my room look blazin with DIY projects and creative ideas/how to deal with ugly walls and carpets?

The walls and carpet thing was not my fault. I knew what I wanted but my dad said that I might think it was stupid in about a year. The walls are beige and the floor is green, I have matching bedding- it's kind of a cabana thing going on, I even have a bamboo curtain for my window that i'm going to put up. How do I make my room awesome? I have a lot of different tastes, I kind of want a gothic looking canopy from Hot Topic and I kind of want these hanging light things that are white flowers that light up. I definitley will put pictures up and maybe I could do something to the floor to hide it? Please help, I dont have much money but a birthday coming up and I really want a room that says me better. Im an 18 year old girl.

The walls are easy, throw on some paint for starts.Then for som. diff. and cool try a wall of silky curtains behind the bed with some throw pillows. You can buy the fabric and get creative or buy off the shelf. What tends to work best for a personalized "decorated" look is the a lil this an a lil that techn. and just pull it all together. As for the carpet, have no fear momma Star is here. All you have to do is think of that floor as if it were a big ugly sweater. You wanna go goth or gurrly goth? All you have to do is find a color and dye it. Black would actually work well to really cover the green esp. if it's dark. It does work, trust me. It would help for you to scrap together some pics of things you just have to have and then work from there on color and other items. With your colors, to go for a cool dreamy effect i find it best to stick to a few blending shades. Like a deep modern(no baby shower!) pink- funky purple and smoky blue. Whatever your colors, just make sure they dont differ so widely that the room looks a jumble when your done. Good luck sweetheart, hope it helps.
Reply:Okay, you have the bamboo thing going on, so how about a grass-type mat for your floor. You can probably find one at a discount store, like maybe TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Target, Walmart, etc. Also check ebay.



The bamboo blind is easily decorated as well. You can make things stay on the blind by slipping things between the slats to hold them in place- I have metal iguanas and lizards, etc on mine in my salon.

If you don't have a headboard, you can buy awesome wooden bead curtains at Pier1. Hang them on the wall behind/above your bed.



Decorate away - and have fun.
Reply:To hide the carpet use black scatter rugs, add black picture frames and if at all possiable for your gothic theme black gauze curtins or any black curtins that are light weight. Use black light bulbs to create a mood when you just want to relax. Black medal canlesticks, accent pieces, curtin holds or furniture with black hardware. Paint can do wonders! You can find accents you like and paint them. If you can paint your furniture to match your gothic theme. Also don't forget the bedding if you can't get new bedding try hiding it by putting sheer curtins over it and accent pillows. It will look gothic then... for sheer curtins check the website below. Get them extra long if you want them to really flow or use as a bed covering. Measure across the bed and from head to foot. A scraf may work well for you. Try a metal headboard like a wall sculpure grill or even an old big picture frame painted black, staple some rice paper, fabric inside and hang it up on the wall. Or use more bamboo inside the frame, placemats work well for this.
