i am doing a a science experiment and i want to know if i change the color of the water...can my white rose become a different color...the whole point is not to dye the rose after it is fully grown but to grow it a certain color
Can i grow a white rose any color i want if i dye the water and not dye the flower?
You can try, that's a very interesting thing. I never thought of that. I'm going to try. My guess is that, however much colored water reaches the rose, thats how colored the rose will be. Although, the soil obsorbs a lot of water too, and perhaps the die would not make it to the flower. Very interesting!
Reply:colors depend on genetics, colored water, sorry won't work. the roots won't transfer it, but if you cut it you might get a little faint tinting but I doubt it will be dramatic.
RRRR
Reply:i'm pretty sure you just have to put some colouring in the water and put the rose in... the colour will seep through the roots. alot of people sell blue and green and orange ones by my house
Reply:my husband says yes in the water it will go up the stem
Reply:you can only dye the rose AFTER it's been cut. you can't grow it in soil with the coloring. but in reality, the flower will soak up the dye, but only through the stem, and after it's been cut. and since roses only last a week or so, you might not be able to get a deep color. try it with a flower that lasts longer.
