I highly doubt you will be able to root a dogwood from a branch cutting. The site below may help.
I took some limbs from a flowering white dogwood and would like to root them for my yard. Any suggestions?
Maybe this will help:
Tried two step process with a Forthysia Bush,an Azalea Bush and Ivy Vines.
First let the stems root in a vase of water. Remember to add fresh water daily and change the entire water every 5-7 days.
When you see small roots, the cuttings are ready for soil planting,. Apply the root tone, poke a hole in the soil and gently insert the stems.
Reply:You can try putting the limbs in water, but I think it's too late for that. You should have spliced the limbs above and below, and left them with a turnikin of soil wrapped around the cuts. After a few weeks of watering these soil bags, roots would have started growing. You could have then cut them down to plant in the ground.
