I couple of months ago pruned a very sick looking rose bush, its now doing really well, and is producing lots of roses, but it has a long, very tall shoot which is covered with small white blossoms. Could this be a sucker ( because I thought they didn't produce any flowers), or is this rose just a freak of nature?
Strange white blossoms on rose bush?
it's likely a shoot off the root stock.... many roses are grafted onto hardy rootstock to help them grow stronger.... if your rose is grafted, there would be a knotty looking lump near the area where the roots meet the main stems... this shoot would be coming from below or within the knotty lump if it's root stock..... trim it off... rootstock will overtake and kill offf the grafted 'good' rose if left to grow.....
Reply:SOME ROSES DO THAT. IT IS VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE SO MANY, BUT THEY ARE VERY NICE
