How to get only a section of a picture colored while the rest is black and white?

i dont have adobe photoshop or anything like that

but is there something free i could download to get to edit my pics so that i can have the whole picture black and white and make only like a flower colored or anything?

the only way i know to do this is using the layers function in adobe photoshop - other than "painting" colors on, which i am not sure sounds natural - im not sure there is any other way to do it.



sorry, but i dont think you'll find free software for what an extremely expensive photographic software can do for you :(

Change it B%26amp;W then paint colors back on.



EDIT

When you paint the colors back on, it just removes the black and white effect that you put on it in the first place. The colors will be the same as the original.
