Dose anyone have a white bird of paradise flower?
The most common reason a Bird of Paradise won't bloom is that it is too young. It also needs to be crowded in its pot, so don't repot it after it is 4-5 years old. If the plant is mature and potbound and still fails to bloom, try using a fertilizer higher in phosphorus, most often the bird is underfertilized.
Blooming also depends if the plant was propagated from seeds or division of the crowns. Seeds take considerably longer than division to grow into a blooming plant. (Obtaining a mature flowering bird-of-paradise plant from seed requires three to five years)
Planting too deeply may cause a delay in flowering
It may also be suffering from too little light. Near full sun is required for blooming.
Hope this helped!!!
Reply:First of all make sure it is fed well. also depends on area of country you are in. I am in S Florida. They grow well here and I sell them. They flower a few times a year but they usually need to be established first. What type of sunlight is it getting? How much water? If you feed it 4 times a year with a balanced shrub fertilizer you should see flowers soon. They will reward you with a lil tlc.
